Nowadays, the most celebrated formal dinner every year is Thanksgiving. However, the cornucopia has been around much longer than the holiday of Thanksgiving has existed. The actual word "cornucopia" dates back to the 5th century BC. Typically, it was a goat's horn that was hollowed out and filled with various fruits, nuts, and grains. According to Greek legend, Amalthea (a goat) offered one of her horns to the Greek god Zues who in turn set the goat's image as the constellation known as "Cornucopia". Since then, they have been a symbol of gratitude and appreciation.
